The Mermaid Diagrams panel sits under the description, for everyone who can see the work item. A syntax-highlighted editor with a live preview, and 35 snippets. All 32 diagram types in Mermaid 12.1 are supported.
Draw the Mermaid in descriptions and comments
Mermaid code blocks in a description or a comment show up as diagrams beside the work item. Open one in the editor, and saving updates the code block itself. Nothing to copy out and paste back.
Export anywhere, keep your diagrams in Atlassian
Readers save any diagram as PNG or SVG, or copy it to the clipboard. The app runs on Forge, panel diagrams are kept in Forge storage that Atlassian hosts, and Jira permissions decide who sees them.

Mermaid code that you, Rovo or another AI tool write into a work item now shows as a diagram. A Mermaid Diagrams section appears in the work item's sidebar wherever the description or a comment contains Mermaid, with a count of the diagrams it found. Nobody has to add anything first.

Diagrams marked Editable open in the full Mermaid editor, and Save writes the new code straight back into the description or comment. Jira's own history records the change, and the code stays in the work item, where search and AI tools can read it.
- Description diagrams: editable by anyone who can edit the work item
- Comment diagrams: editable by the comment's author, or by people allowed to edit all comments
- If someone else changed the diagram while you were editing, Save stops instead of overwriting their change
Nothing new is stored and no new permissions are requested: diagrams are read from Jira each time, as the person viewing them.
