Custom Workflow Condition & Validator with Jira Expressions

This provided exactly what I needed to create more powerful validation rules in our workflows. It was actually recommended by Claude, which also helped me create the required Jira expressions. Highly recommended!

I am experiencing an issue with the “Custom Workflow Condition & Validator with Jira Expressions” plugin in Jira Cloud. When I try to add a validator on the Create transition using an expression like: fields.customfield_10596?.size() > 0 && fields.customfield_10561?.size() == 0 I receive the following error: Issue does not exist or you do not have permission to see it. It appears that the plugin cannot access the issue object during the Create transition, which is expected since the issue does not yet exist. Using issue.fields… also does not work at this point. Could you please advise if there is a supported way to validate custom fields on the Create screen so that I can enforce “exactly one field filled” (XOR logic) before the issue is created? Thank you in advance for your guidance.

  Unfortunately - the logic execution happens on Jira side.

  I do not have influence over what data is accessible when.

  I can only document current Atlassian implementation but I can not change it.

  I think in this case it is necessary to submit bug / feature request to Atlassian via https://support.atlassian.com

Absolutely awesome app! I only missed one thing — it’s not possible to validate values that are entered or changed during the transition.
