When you deploy the code for a new feature, but hide the feature behind a feature flag, you can safely turn on that feature for a small set of users, and measure the impact. You can then roll out the features to more users. And, if a CloudWatch alarm triggers during rollout, AWS AppConfig will automatically roll back the flag to its previous state.
