Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) is the official tool for migrating from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud. Watch this demo for a data migration overview, and this demo on app assessment.
Requirements:
- Jira Data Center 7.6 or later
- A Jira Cloud site - start a free cloud migration trial if needed
- JCMA 1.7.1 and older are unsupported
Key points:
- Review the server-to-cloud migration guide
- From v1.12.50, JCMA bundles the Portfolio Insights: Data and metrics app, collecting ID-based operational data to assess cloud-migration readiness. Only activates once connected to Portfolio Insights.
When to use: migrating to Jira Cloud, or when Atlassian Support recommends it.

- Details
This release improves migration reliability and recovery from errors.
- Forge app custom field values and project shortcuts are migrated, with Assets links to issues where enabled.
- Paused migrations can be resumed with clearer status, and remediation emails are sent only when action is needed.
- Retries are more dependable: temporary gateway timeouts are retried and old failures no longer end a new attempt.
- Logs for a retried migration include only the current attempt.
- The Missing Attachment preflight check and the app development mode skip work correctly again.
- Imports no longer fail on missing Assets attachments or notifications that reference deleted custom fields.
- Tombstone flow Improvements : Deleted users no longer export as active accounts, and deleted and orphaned users are exported completely and consistently.
