Really like how transparently this works with Jira. This can be used with tools such as VSCode because you simply substitute your password with your token. There are global settings to ensure tokens can be short-lived.

We ran into authentication issues when trying to connect an instance that's behind Okta (with Okta's native configuration) and trying to connect to another Jira instance to sync issues. We did not want to allow basic authentication / by pass SSO to resolve this. Using the API Token Authentication app we found a nice and secure solution to connect these instances. As always, the support team is simply amazing, that took the time to go through all the options the app is. It's currently very decent priced as well.
