Edit Permission Inheritance

The plugin works great — it essentially fixes the broken permission inheritance (when "Restricted" mode is enabled). Once Atlassian eventually fixes this issue, the plugin will no longer be needed. It took me a moment to find how to enable it — in the current version of Confluence, it's located elsewhere. In the top right corner, click the three dots, then go to Apps → Edit permission inheritance. ! The only annoying thing is that this doesn't work for "Folders", because you can't access the plugin from a Folder — Confluence doesn't offer the "Apps" option for Folders.

I can't get this to work consistently. Sometimes it does what's on the tin, other times only some of the children inherit permissions, other times none

  • Update: after inspecting the logs it seems that you trying to inherit edit permissions for users or groups which don't have a view permission for the specific page. The app prevents this intentionally as Confluence also grants a view permission silently in case you add an edit permission - otherwise we would have a security issue.
