I installed and had to uninstall quite quickly. I find it a very interesting and powerful tool for management in Service Desk. You can quickly see activity of you team members. However, it does give off a vibe of micro-management to agents that we did not like. In addition on a ticket by ticket level it takes up valuable real estate in the right side of the page. It would nice if it was available as an reporting tool in the left panel and includes permissions based on groups. Thanks.

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for being one of our first to download and test our new App Pulse for Jira. It’s great to hear your feedback and the experience you’ve had with Pulse so far.

I would like to address your micro-management concerns and we can see how it could come across as a little Big Brother which is where are newest feature release may be of interest to you. We’ve now implemented an extensive Permissions and Visibility setting in the global Pulse panel – available to Jira Administrators only. The following options are now available:

Who can see Pulse for Jira Interface Elements (Navigation Items, Panels)? *

    • All Users
    • Only Jira Administrators
    • Only Jira Administrators and Project Administrators (on their project – not the global panel)
    • Only Jira Administrators and specific groups

*By default, we assume that the detailed panels should only be visible to admins (Project or Jira) who will be able to access it unless the settings are changed. A simple view tracker will be shown to all other users.

We hope these new features will offer you some piece of mind and you’ll continue to try out all the functionalities of Pulse, there’s plenty left to explore!

Any other questions or suggestions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

    All the Best,

    Laura

    Jira Cloud Released 2019-11-01

    Summary

    Required scopes changed

    Details

Based on customer feedback we have implemented a new Settings interface, available to Jira Administrators through the Global Pulse item and a number of advanced permissions for users.

    It allows you to configure:

    • Who is included in view tracking
    • Who can access Pulse for Jira pages
    • Whether to always show the simple 'View Tracker' panel on Issues

The default setting will be to track all users, only allow access to Pulse by Jira or Project Admins and will force the simple 'View Tracker' on all View Issue pages in Jira.

This release also contains a number of minor changes:

    • Implemented cacheable iFrames, which will speed up the interface and loading times.
    • Fixed a bug where clicking on an action (top-right) would reset the selected tab
    • Updated core components (e.g. Atlaskit)
    • Removed ADMIN and SPACE_ADMIN permission scope

    Installation

    1. Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Find new apps or Find new add-ons screen loads.
    3. Locate Pulse Analytics for Jira Free.
    4. Click Install to download and install your app.
    5. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
