    More details

Azure Pipelines enable you to continuously build, test and deploy to any platform or cloud. You can have flexible workflows, advanced deployment scenarios like approvals and gates, and use marketplace extensions to support anything you need in your pipelines. You can use hosted Windows, Linux and Mac agents to execute your pipelines.

This plugin connects Jira Software with Azure Pipelines, enabling full tracking of how and when an issue is delivered.

    It unlocks the following functionalities

    • View release status in development section of Jira issues with links to Azure Pipelines.
    • View issues in release pipelines with deep links back to Jira. Simply get accurate release notes for each deployment.

NOTE: This plugin is currently Jira Cloud only, as the APIs we depend on are only available in Jira Cloud. When those APIs become available in Jira Server this extension will work there too.

Also, the plugin works only for GitHub and Azure Repos. Bitbucket support will be added later.

Not sure how to connect, because after connection the Jira wont show up in Azure Release Options, how to make sure the connection is correct (Username/Role)?

This app didn't work for us: it failed to authenticate against Azure. The Azure DevOps support desk was unable to help.

For anyone looking to use this with AzureDevops repos, read this Github issue first: https://github.com/microsoft/azure-pipelines-jira/issues/10 It looks like this requires a paid 3rd party add-on to get the full functionality, even after making us what weeks for the integration into AzureDevops. The functionality appears to be very limited without the other add-on. I'll update this if proven wrong or if there is another update that extends the functionality. It is better than nothing, but for my use case, barely... Especially when you compare it to what is available for Github.

Seems to only have support for Github, so this doesn't work when used with an azure devops git repo. [update] support for azure devops repos is now available, will update my review shortly

That is correct. Currently there is no official way to link commits in Azure DevOps Git Repo with Jira issues. You can however use third party plugins for that. We'll add pipeline traceability from Azure Repos assuming use of the third party plugins soon.

    Jira Cloud Released 2019-09-03

Integrate release pipelines with Jira software v2. Added support for Azure Repos

v1.0.9 - This version adds the support for Azure Repos to the plugin.

    Previous version

Azure Pipelines integration with Jira connects the two services, providing full tracking of how and when the value envisioned with an issue is delivered. Using the integration, teams can setup a tight development cycle from issue creation through release. Key development milestones for an issue can be tracked from Jira. Kindly take note of the following.

    • The current version supports tracking when GitHub or Azure repos are linked with Jira and deployed with Azure Pipelines.
    • The JIRA issue must be mentioned in commit message or PR title for the integration to work. Mentions in commit details and PR details do not work.

    1. Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Find new apps or Find new add-ons screen loads.
    3. Locate Azure Pipelines for Jira.
    4. Click Install to download and install your app.
    5. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
