We really like this addon. It will suit our development workflow with requirements & tests management. I too have some recommendations. Features: - Execution view, being able to have the test cases in the same folder structure as in the test case management - Execution view, being able to set the status of the test cases - Execution view, being able to create defect (per test case, similar to execute) - Defect creation, being able to create defect into another project and... - ...Configuration, being able to set up/show custom fields in defect Bug/Improvement: - Creating a jira issue with rtm-types (requirement, defect,..) shows the item in the table view, but not in the folder view on the left side - Configuration view, "Disable RTM in current project" with a switch control is confusing. I'll suggest either changing the control to a button or label to "Enable/Disable RTM..."

    Hi Mischa,

It’s great you’re satisfied with using the RTM app! Our customers’ satisfaction is the most valuable feedback for us and your suggestions and ideas have been taken under our product owner’s consideration.

The idea of our app is having reusable test plans and test cases therefore the executions section is slightly different than the rest of them. Setting statuses directly in test steps or test case sections could be misleading and unclear if tests were used more than once. Having the dedicated statuses only in the Executions section helps to track the progress of testing and to indicate which version of the app has fixed the linked defect. Of course, our app is quite transparent in case of relations and it’s viable to easily navigate to localize the specific item. The main issue statuses can be also modified on Workflow because Test Cases are standard Jira issues based on all its features.

Changing the button that disables/enables the RTM app in the project will be changed and implemented in one of the upcoming versions. We’re also planning to add the opportunity of storing defects in a separate project and this possibility will be included in the upcoming version that is almost ready! Additionally, please be informed that all the rest of the sections will be also possible to split into separate projects in the future but it’s hard to promise any specific ETA for this improvement as same as in case of the feature of custom fields' customization.

We’re aware of the limitation regarding issues created in a standard way that are not shown in the tree and we have plans to add the ability to import these issues to the tree view. For now, we can encourage you to try the possible workaround that has been described in our article: https://deviniti.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/kb/view/1293844666.

It's not easy to discuss everything in detail here, therefore, we encourage you to contact us via Customer Channel: https://deviniti.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals.

    Kind regards, Deviniti Support Team

Some recommendations on how to improve the app: - Include links of the type "is implemented by"/"implements" or "fulfilled by"/"fulfils" between Requirements issues and other standard Jira issues, such as user stories, as part of the links managed and used by the app. A possible further extension is to include "Design" type issues, but I feel it would add little value to the "story" issue. Some more general wish I have is to be able to create a "story" or "design" issue from the view of any of the requirements issues. - Include Risk Management as well, being able to: * Include risks as issues with: + Risk severity and risk probability as fields. This can generate an automatically calculated risk score (Low, Medium, High). + Detectability as a field, with levels. + Link to Test Case of the type "is detected by"/"detects" + Link to Requirement of the type "impacts"/"is impacted by". * Include "Risk Mitigation" as an issue type with: + Residual severity and residual probability as fields. This can generate an automatically residual risk score (Low, Medium, High). + Detectability as a field, with levels. + Link to Risk issues of the type "mitigates"/"is mitigated by". Things that I like: * Traceability Report. Very useful. If my recommendation above for including link type "is implemented by"/"implements", the possibility of generating a report of completeness of design against requirements will make the Traceability Reports more complete. * Coverage Reports. As Traceability Report, it can benefit a lot from including the link type "is implemented by"/"implements". It can prove that the requirements have been designed/implemented, test plan created, tests implemented and test executed. This results in end-to-end traceability of the requirements in the project. Things that I would change: * While having differentiated issue types for Requirements, I feel that having one generalistic "Requirement" issue type could make the app more friendly. * The use of components is not so obvious and is not very clearly explained.

I really like this tool - it has capabilities which I always looked for a cloud JIRA: efficient requirements management, embedded test management, user-friendly traceability, and coverage reports. However- there is still room for improvement: issues to fix and must to have features (for example API to automation, like Jenkins). The good news is that the support team is extremely nice, helpfull and open for suggestions and improvements, so I'm sure that in a few months it will be a star in the Jira apps store!

Hi there, I did some more decent test with RTM and me and my colleges from our test department are really impressed! Let me ask a tiny question: We might have multiple requirements and the related testcases in multiple projects. Is there a plan to use these across projects during plan definitions? Or is there a way to clone it to a different project? Or do you recommend to store all test definition in the same Jira project in this case? For reusability of requirements and testing it would be really cool to have a solution that allows to reuse, or at least clone requirements and their testcases across projects. What are your thoughts? Otherwise: Great work, thanks a lot!
    Hexygen Inc.

    Hi Joerg,

It’s great to hear that you’re satisfied with using our app!

For now, only having a separate Defect repository is doable. We’re thinking about adding this possibility for the rest of the modules in the future and the proper task there in our roadmap. It will allow to reuse created requirements, test cases or test plans by different projects. We encourage you to submit a [support request] to be keeping informed on the details.

As a workaround, it's possible to use cloning and moving issues to the target project as described in the following article: https://deviniti.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/kb/view/1584824372 .

In case of any suggestions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach us out via our Customer Portal. We will do all our best to help anytime!

I am also totally in love to this app. I just have a question, in regards to the requirement issue tickets, is there possibilities to create our own requirement ticket, or the ones that are created from the RTM plugin are the only one we can use?? Liebe Grüße aus Wien, Marvie

When I started to look for an Add-On addressing Requirements and Test Management at the same time I already come across RTM for JIRA. At that time it was not yet available for Server and going to Atlassian Cloud is not an option for my projects. So I tested some other Add-Ons having there strengths either in Requirements or in Test Management. Fortunately RTM for JIRA got available for JIRA Server lately. I started testing it today. Although it is a very early release (Version 1.0.2) it is really impressive and shows a lot of potential. Simply said: it is just beautiful. Thumbs up!

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
