I originally thought this was using the select2.org javascript component... however this plugin is actually a way to globally apply Atlassian's SingleSelect and MultiSelect AUI JS components on regular select fields. That in itself is good work and will resolve most people's needs. However those older AUI javascript components suffer from some limitations (eg. using Adaptavist ScriptRunner plugin and customising behaviours - like programatically disabling the fields). Since v8 of AUI - included with Jira 8 - These issues have been resolved by their integration of the actual select2.org plugin (https://docs.atlassian.com/aui/8.0.6/docs/auiselect2.html). It would be worthwhile for Pitronote to utilise the new auiSelect2 instead. Ie: AJS.$(this).auiSelect2() instead of new AJS.SingleSelect.

      Hi Kevin,

      Thank you for the review.

We originally tried to do it as you suggested with "auiSelect2()".

However, it worked well only when field is in a screen (create, edit, transition).

It was not working well when user tried to edit an issue with the inline edit.

So to avoid letting the user 2 different functionality ("auiSelect2()" in screens and "AJS.SingleSelect" in inline edit),

We decided that it will be best to keep the same behavior at all places and chose "AJS.SingleSelect".
