Epic children items' workflows are configured with post functions on transitions like "Start Development" and "Done" respectively. Epic's workflow is configured with triggers on transitions like "In Progress" and "Done".
As soon as the development on the first child development item is started the parent Epic is automatically transitioned to the "In Progress" status
As soon as the development on the last child development item is completed (in terms of Resolution field) the parent Epic is automatically transitioned to the "Done" status
More details
Add-on contains two pairs of standard workflow triggers and post functions for the below use-cases respectively:
- When the first linked development item under certain Epic is started for development (specific workflow transition is occurred) then workflow's post function generates related "Dev Item Work Started" event. Corresponding trigger "Dev Item Work Started" configured on the related workflow transition of Epic process the automation.
- When the last linked development item under certain Epic is resolved (resolution is not EMPTY) then workflow's post function generates related "Dev Item Resolved" event. Corresponding trigger "Dev Item Work Done" configured on the related workflow transition of Epic process the automation.
"Post-function --> Trigger" pairs are independent so it is possible to configure "Work Start" or "Work Done" use-cases separately.
