The 2.0 release is a major change in how the issues are displayed and act upon. Inbox for JIRA moves the menu from main section to be placed next to the user icon section. The dropdown menu includes features such as displaying time since last event, last comment, statuses and stats about how many updates / comments. Not only that it also includes an action bar to do comment, watch/unwatch, vote/unvote issues directly from the menu.
