What kind of training is that? If I am an admin I am looking in how to orginize users, permissions, etc. This is just a basic from the basic jira training. I know youtube tutorials that are way more better. And this for free.

Hi Iris, you're right in that the tutorials included in the Marketplace app are designed to get end users up to speed on the basics of Jira. Jira Administrators tell us that these tutorials allow their end users to train themselves, instead the Admins having to train everyone.

To help our Jira administrators, Atlassian offers hands-on courses to help with the more complex concepts and best practices involved with Jira administration and certification to help people build their careers. We also offer a growing (free) library of Skill Builders videos that explore technical topics in more depth. We hope you'll find these resources helpful.

I recommend the training for all new users to Jira.. Now how do I get them to complete all the training?

Hi Ryan, while there's no automated way to push your users into the training, we've had customers run contests and offer rewards or drawings to encourage participation. And you might consider adding the requirement (or suggestion) to take the tutorials in on-boarding plans for new hires.

In case you're not aware of this option, you can track who has taken has which tutorials by subscribing to a report that will be sent to you on your preferred schedule (daily, weekly, monthly...). Within the Training app, under the "Administrator" section, go to Reports and then click the "User Details" report. Fill in your preferences, submit it, and you'll receive a .CSV file by email. We hope this gives you some ideas in getting your teams engaged in learning more about Jira.

I submitted a ticket to Atlassian, but also felt compelled to post here since we've subscribed to this addon for a couple of months: 1. The documentation link from the marketplace goes to 'Page Not Found', not helpful as an administrator to be without documentation. Luckily, the functions of this addon are pretty plain to see, but would be nice if there was a whitepaper. 2. Reporting doesn't show user-level insights into how users performed or what courses they completed. How many users completed and have yet to start a training is not useful to me if I don't know who has yet to start or complete that training. 3. Last point is that I'm a bit disappointed in the training offerings for the cost. It's not beneficial to keep the training addon installed and pay for each user if there are not more training modules being added regularly to justify an ongoing subscription. From a business perspective, it makes more sense to subscribe for a month, have everyone take the trainings, then discontinue the service. Initially when I installed, it seemed like this was going to be an ongoing initiative on the Atlassian side and a good investment for our team, which isn't the case. In the current state, it's sad to see that Atlassian wants to profit from offering basic product knowledge and video trainings, which should be a core part of the product offering. I will be uninstalling the training courses for now, but hope to see the team make some updates in the future.

    Hi Meg,

    1. This issue has been resolved. Please see if you can access the documentation at this link now: https://confluence.atlassian.com/training-for-jira-cloud/training-for-jira-documentation-915477840.html?_ga=2.234777438.1364621932.1535645726-664585035.1521152905 (or click on the Documentation link from this page: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1217110/training-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview. As you mentioned, the functionality is pretty straight-forward so this is just extra info.

    2. We'd like to hear more about your requirements for user reporting. Even though you have paused your subscription, would you mind opening a ticket on this Service Desk so we can discuss there? We may have interim workarounds for getting user data in reports that we can send automatially. Service Desk Link: https://getsupport.atlassian.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/9/group/95.

    3. Thanks for your candid feedback about the amount of content, Meg. I'm glad you could pause your subscription in the timeframe when we've been less actively adding content. We do have plans to add at least another series (maybe two) before the end of the calendar. Early next year, we plan to add more content and more frequently. I hope you'll check back in around January.

Thank you for writing - we are working hard to make this product better for our customers...

It's a great concept to have a general training that is based right in Jira. Users can learn only those things they need. The ability to get thrid party tutorials in this as well is very nice as well. But after doing some of these trainings myself now, there are a few flaws that will prevent me from using it. Here's a few of the major ones. - telling the users that "the Atlassian admin manages all your access and permissions" is the main slaw to me. Being an admin of multiple hundred projects, I create the initial project and permissions. Afterwards it's the project leads job to take care of permissions. - explaing the user the difference between Jira Core and Jira Software in the "What's Jira" training looks confusing to me. I bet 95% of the Jira users (not Admins) who are able to work well with Jira can't tell the difference. It's one product for them and they don't to know the difference. It's something that Admins and managers might need. - some speakers seem to have a slight accent. If you are used to english you won't even notice that. But since there are no translations into other languages, even the users in my company with less english skills would have to take these trainings. It makes it a bit harder to understand for them. Please note: it's a *slight* accent. If you have half decent english skills this training is perfectly understandable. - there's no guiding line. Even if I set it to "beginner", the "Learn Jira Basics" block is to the far right. It would be nice if there would be a guideline for new users to start out with "Learn Jira Basics" before they start "building their Career with Atlassian". In my first test I simply set up a Confluence page with the related information, though.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as an annual subscription. You are eligible for support and version updates as long as your subscription is active.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
