It's a start. The plugin does retrieve the users from my slack channel, and so I have added my team members individually to the channel alert. With this cross-reference I would expect that an @mention of my team member would carry through to the slack message. Unfortunately instead of an @mention, the name shows up like [~username], and doesn't trigger slack notifications. To me this is the single most important thing this integration should achieve. My team does not check email, so being personally notified about a Jira comment in slack is key.

I am very pleased with this app. I specially like the supporting document that you can refer to if you need any clarification. I was having issues with setting up my notifications. The document is well organized and easy to use. It was very helpful.

The app is broken since we installed it on the 1st of April 2019 and we have contacted support and they said they fixed it. We have Version: 2.1.4-AC and it is still not fixed whenever I try to create a channel the Jira task id is UNDEFINED, I manually change it and it creates the slack channel then if you refresh it forgets the link because internally the task id was null/undefined... Thanks for the trial, uninstalling very soon if you don't fix it. Future readers, please utilize your trials before you buy this!

Hey Ali. We're always here to help. You can find detailed documentation here: https://bitband.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BD/pages/248774657/Slack+Jira+Integration. And if you ever need some additional help you can always reach us on via our service desk here: https://bitband.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1.

You can monitor Jira events at the system, project, and individual issue level, and have Slack notifications for specific use cases. You can send those notifications to existing Slack public channels, Slack private channels, and create new channels. Feel free to reach out if you have a specific use case we can help you with.

Nice idea, but there's just as much spam as JIRA emails. I thought that selecting only mentions and assign events would notify me only if an item was assigned to me or if I was mentioned in a comment. It seems that I'm receiving notifications for all changes to all JIRAs I've ever touched.

Hi Daniel, sorry to hear you are receiving too many notifications. We recommend limiting the notifications for specific use cases. In the Filters and Events settings screens, you can refine notifications to only be sent for very specific use cases. On the filter screen you can use JQL to hyper-refine your notifications for very specific scenarios. You can find details on how to do this in the documentation here: https://bitband.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BD/pages/248774657/Slack+Jira+Integration#SlackJiraIntegration-4.2.2.Filterstab. For additional help always feel free to reach out to us via our service desk here: https://bitband.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1.

Very unsatisfied. I would have been happy if my team could type JIRA-### and have the text appear as a link. You do not get this with this JIRA integration. For each channel you make in slack, you need to go back to JIRA and grant that channel permission to access certain projects. This is extremely over prescriptive. I would have been happy with some generic configuration for all channels with the ability to have certain channels have more or less permissions. For an application that makes splitting out conversations into new channels so easy, having to set up each and every channel with JIRA access is over burdensome. Then once you do add it to a channel you cannot decide what it notifies you about. It will just start dumping JIRA notifications into that channel. If you just wanted the ability to link JIRA tickets when chatting tough luck, you'll have to shout over JIRA to get your conversation heard. If that was not bad enough, as the person who added JIRA, the jira bot had a special relationship with me, regardless of what channels I was in, what subscriptions I had set up it would send me all JIRA notifications. As the person who brought JIRA integration in, I had the sole joy of hearing everything that JIRA was doing. I went to an issue, commented on that issue, the jirabot told me I made a comment and then emailed me about the comment as well. This I could do nothing about, could not turn off, could not tone down. I could uninstall, and that is what I very quickly was required todo in order to restore the usefulness of slack. When slack's goal is to stream line your conversations having JIRA jump in and muddle everything up is not worth it.

Michael, thanks for the feedback. These features are all available in the latest version. You can create channel right from Jira, without going over to Slack. You can also do fine tuned notifications to absolutely any information available in Jira. You can do this with the UI for the majority of situations, and you can use JQL to fine tune to extremely specific notifications. If you have any other suggestions on how to make the app even better, please let us know.

Works great after an initial hick-up with the permissions. Support is responsive and feature suggestions are being addressed. It's still early days, so will update after a couple of weeks. Good job @Bitband team (or is it #bitband-team ;)

None of my channels were available after connecting. The only options I had were to create a 'system' channel, which I didn't understand or want to do. I found the settings confusing, and the warnings from Slack about not having been reviewed + the lack of app icon made me worry about how secure my team's data was. I ended up uninstalling unfortunately. Let me know if I'm wrong bitband, (3/4 as I'd hate to bring down a new integration's average rating)

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

If you've opted for annual billing for your Atlassian product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.
