A very handy tool, but definitely buggy. They recently introduced a scrollbar on the side that is the bane of my existence. Everything was smooshed into a small box until you actually checked something. Had an update pending, updated and that issue is resolved, but now the scrollbar extends all the way to the bottom so there is really no point to it. It's just a checklist, don't overcomplicate the thing. Feature Request: Ability to edit a template. Currently you import the template you want to edit, make changes, and then save the template with a different name because you can't overwrite it. This has forced us to use dates in our template names. Then go back and delete the old one. Very time consuming just to make edits. Happy to hear this feature is on the horizon though.

    Hi Erik,

    Thanks for your review.

What you have described is an unexpected behavior of the add-on. Moreover, it looks a unique case, as we haven't received similar reports from the users before. We would really want to investigate it. May we ask you to install and try out the latest version of Smart Checklist and let us know if you get the same behavior?

As for templates editing - we've got some good news here. We are already working on introducing this functionality in the upcoming versions of Smart Checklist. Added your vote for this one as well. Stay tuned!

You can reach us at smartchecklist@railsware.com to let us know the outcomes of the latest version usage results, or leave another comment here. We do appreciate hearing back from you!

P.S. Would be great if, in case of any issues, you report on them to us directly. Issues can be user-specific or worked on atm. We would love resolving your queries first, so you could leave a review based on relevant add-on's evaluation. Thanks! ;)

Very misleading screenshots - you can not show the To Do items on the side directly, you have to open an additional page by clicking the "Open Smart Checklist" button.

Hi Sascha, thanks for the review.

What you have described would be a Jira New Issue view related behavior. In the New Issue View, add-ons appear on the right side as an "Issue Glance" module which needs to be expanded to view the contents.

However, there is a way to change it and have To Do items displayed on the side directly by applying "Show checklist in center panel" setting. Please see a short demo screencast here.

Thanks anyway for reporting that our screenshots look misleading. We'll add a notice about New Jira Issue View to avoid any misunderstanding in future.

Excellent light weight app, perfect for situations like mine; a quick, easy to edit markdown based format makes constant changes to the checklist easy and intuitive, without much overhead in terms of Jira set up and configuration. Also had a great experience contacting the devs for support (Internationally as well!)

This creates a checklist, but the checklist is never present without clicking on it to see if it's there. Checklists should be immediately visible in an issue.

I have tried all the JIRA checklists and this is the most robust and functional. My favorite feature is the markdown style edit page. You can mass update and edit the whole list rather than having to individually edit the list items. Super useful. Had one issue, related to JIRA and their support team was very responsive and accommodating to schedule. Great app (best checklist on JIRA) and great people!

This product is perfect in nearly every way, but unfortunately has two flaws that make it unsuitable for Enterprise use: 1. It does not record edits to the checklist to the History tab, so there is no record of previous state, or who edited / completed tasks or when. 2. It allows you to edit the checklist in any state including the Closed state which issues should otherwise not be editable.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

It’s great to hear you’ve been having good experience with the Smart Checklist. :) We’d like to mention that it is possible to track the history of smart checklists changes using custom fields set-up. You might find the following article useful: https://railsware.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CHK/pages/91095104/Track+checklist+changes

Your feature request regarding editing checklists for closed issues makes great sense, thank you! We've added it to our to-do list for the future updates.

The team was very responsive to our requests. The checklists are easy to use and add a great way to track sub-elements on a card and maintain or transfer lengthy documentation on detailed projects. Very useful add-on.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

If you've opted for annual billing for your Atlassian product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
