This Jira PlugIn was really quick to setup and it allows to reference other custom fields within the ticket. Additionally the addon allows you to search for a custom field by it`s name which makes the work very easy.

Simple, effective, inexpensive. Create custom field, specify the SQL query for that field, set which field it pulls from for the WHERE clause, and it then shows the returned value in your ticket.
