    Block basic authentication

    Simple configuration

Delegate authentication to Crowd and connect your Atlassian Server and/or Data Center products to more than one identity provider.

Authenticating with username and password is considered less secure than using single sign-on (SSO). You now have an option of blocking authentication with username and password in the login portal and in API calls.

Configure and test your SSO authentication easily, without worrying about being locked out of your application if it fails.

This plugin is misleading or at the very least, certainly unclear. It can provide basic SSO (single username/password login) through Crowd Server. However true SSO or SAML authentication requires Data Center on either: Crowd Data Center, which is $4,500 per year. (Even if you have 50 users on a single node. This feature only works with Crowd Data Center, not Crowd Server.) OR Data Center on each Application (JIRA, Confluence, etc.). (At which point, just get Crowd Data Center cause it's cheaper at all levels.) Even basic SSO features still require manually modifying configuration files that get replaced on each software update. SAML features aren't enabled unless using Data Center. Only way to get SAML integration for Server editions is via third-party plugins. Only way to get SSO, without Username/Password login, requires custom plugin or third-part plugin. Very disappointed.

Can you verify if this works with JIRA version 7.9? If not, would you be able to provide an update to support this?

I mean let's assume that redirection to IDP and back to SP works and client gets authenticated through SAML/OIDC on DC instances. What I am surprised is that after all this time we still have dashboard login gadget issue? There is no built-in redirection, and it forces one to use either Javascript (that can be disabled on client side) to determine unathenticateds and redirect to login.jsp or remove dashboard login gadget from installation folder and instruct users to click on login at top right, or use some sort of determination through proxy/lb on who is already authenticated and redirect otherwise. Why don't we get this on login gadget and everywhere else that login.jsp is loaded?

Terrible. Unable to log a support issue that version 4.1.3 breaks Jira. com.atlassian.cache.CacheException net.sf.ehcache.CacheException: You have configured the cache with a replication scheme that cannot properly support CAS operation guarantees Reverting to 4.1.1 works.

Worst add-on. Not working at all. Looking for my customer for DC. I thought it will work without any issue. But it fails to perform OpenID SSO with Okta. Not recommend at all. Looking for alternative SSO solutions.

It comes for free with a Data Center license but the app one core issue described in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-66554 which turned multiple customer of us away from using it in favor of commercial solutions. Not bad for commercial solutions vendors but this app definitely cannot be accepted as a benefit of a Data Center license.
