Advisory for Upgrading Confluence SAML from 3.*.* and 4.0.* to 4.1.*

With the release of Confluence SAML 4.1.0 (One Jar), we recommend following the steps below to ensure a smooth upgrade process.

Before Upgrade

  • Download the existing plugin configuration backup from the Backup and Restore section before initiating the upgrade. This will help ensure smoother rollbacks if needed.
  • Test the upgrade in a staging environment before applying the update to your production instance. While testing, ensure that the functionalities currently in use in your environment are verified and working as expected.
  • Once testing is successfully completed in the staging environment, proceed with upgrading your production instance.

After Upgrade

Verify the SAML authentication flow and confirm that users are able to log in successfully.

Validate that all IdP configurations, group mappings, and provisioning settings are functioning as expected.
