Given that JIRA keeps track of user accounts without any way to track weekends, holidays and vacations, or to plan and allocate some or all of a person's time to a project, our company found itself manually sharing MS Project files over SharePoint among various project managers. We knew we needed some kind of simple and transparent resource management, and we wanted to do it all centrally in JIRA. We wanted to not only allocate resources by percentage to multiple projects, but also to plan upcoming projects (including future new hires). We evaluated AIM Resource Management against larger plugins like Tempo Budgets and BigPicture and found that those other tools were just too big and had too many complex features we didn't need or want. All we needed was the resource management part that JIRA was missing without adding a lot of other features. In that way, AIM Resource Management is like a good Unix tool: it does one thing and does it very well. We found that assignments for a project's Agile board are just a single click away, automatically adding users who are assigned to issues shown on that board, and displaying them in a tabular, spreadsheet-like view. Adjusting assignments manually just takes a few clicks. Labeled resources also let us plan future projects and staffing, without having to add new JIRA projects or users. While evaulating AIM Resource Management, we found a few bugs with the plugin and promptly reported them. Their support staff engaged with us and stayed engaged for several weeks (sometimes multiple times per day) until they were able to reproduce and fix every one of the bugs we'd reported. The AIM Resource Management plugin is clean and simple, and their customer service is outstanding.

For the price and functionality, we've not found a better add-on. We are a group of 40-50 in a company of 500+. There is a chosen timesheet system as well as a budget/project management application. So something like Tempo was overkill for us. We wanted a tool that allowed us to see how our group was spread across our projects so we know which resources will need coverage and when projects are ending. This tool gives a breakdown by Resources assigned to a Project, by the Projects a Resource is working on, and if a Resource is under or over allocated in general. It uses a basic weekly timeline and color coding based on how concerned you want to be, e.g. highlight the Resource in red if they are under-allocated by 25% We've been looking for a tools like this for years and have finally found something that's not too expensive and gives is insight into our resource needs (current and future)

As a product development team lead I have to deliver forecasts as well as identify, discuss and solve resource conflicts on a regular basis. Customer and internal projects spread over different teams and some resources of my team are part of multiple projects. The RM addon supports my resource planning tasks a lot and we have a lot less discussion since our resource planning process got much more transparent by using this tool in our business unit.

Great resource planing tool, can´t imagine working without it anymore. Seeing the workload across the team helped us to improve our project planning and our overall efficiency. It helps me to quickly visualize left over capacity for my team using the assignment board. If you are struggling with time management, team planning or project management i strongly recommend this tool.

This plugin helps a lot to fulfill my daily tasks as team lead and project manager in agile or classical projects. During meetings with my colleagues we identify and solve resource planning conflicts efficiently by using the Assignment board and its views. Resource planning is transparent for all teams now. The Analytics view really supports me to easily track progress and status for project controlling.
