Text descriptions of diagrams give clear deltas when changed. They also work well for programmatic editing and parsing.

Flowcharts can also be easily created from text descriptions using the Graphviz DOT format that PlantUML supports

Your text descriptions and generated images are only stored within Confluence, nowhere else.

PlantUML for Confluence Cloud provides a PlantUML image generation service that stores your text and images directly in your Confluence Cloud instance (none of your data is stored elsewhere).

The app also supports Graphviz DOT diagram generation.

PlantUML itself is very convenient tool for documentation, and that plugin helps to incorporate it seamlessly to the Confluence. However, there are some handicaps, which are preventing to use it in full power: 1. (most important for me) Manual size control produce not zoom out (as logically expected), but just crops the image using provided size. First of all, it is looks like super strange use case. And it prevents to add big diagrams, which need to be zoomed to get all details. 2. Absence of tracking changes history 3. Impossibility to connect with external storage, like GitHub, in the aim not to copy paste code each time after change of diagram in repository.

A bit handicapped (compared to confluence server PLantuml plugins). Does not support links in any way. Seemingly does not support stdlib sprites (even though it seems they are available as per stdlib command to the plugin). Also, does not support svg output, but that is since confluence does not support svg (!!!).

Generates diagrams reasonably well, with some limitations. However, there's no revision history, so you can't view prior versions of diagrams.

Very happy with that PlantUml addon. With the current version you can even use skinparam commands to customize colors etc. I've tried other PlantUml addons but this is the best one so far: it renders quickly (like normal content), it understands the current commands according to http://plantuml.com and it appears on PDF Confluence exports (yes, other PlantUml addons just don't appear!). Nice support, you get answers within the hour (sometimes) or within the day. Clear recommendation from me. Feature request: toggle "Automatically set the width and height of the viewer" to enabled by default, maybe in the addon options.

Hi, is there a plan to also release this plugin for confluence Server? Thank you.

    Hi Jan,

Unfortunately, no. There is already a well established PlantUML for Confluence server plugin,https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/41025/plantuml-for-confluence?hosting=server&tab=overview.

Additionally, we do a lot behind the scenes to produce the result you see. The font support, for example, would be very complex to recreate on every server instance.
