    Ensure metadata consistency

    Generate metadata overviews

    Simpler space administration

Choose from predefined values or define your own metadata. Whatever approach you take, you’ll enjoy having consistent metadata across your wiki that avoids the problems of user-generated metadata.

Get up-to-date overviews and insights into your wiki content at a glance. Use predefined and aggregated metadata to create powerful, automatically updated overviews. Use filters for even deeper insights into your wiki.

Space administrators can drag and drop metadata fields within sets with predefined values. The use of metadata within the wiki is promoted by presetting needed metadata for certain pages or via templates.

    More details

As a regular Confluence user, you know that manually adding metadata to wiki pages is both tedious and error-prone.

That’s why we designed Metadata for Confluence. This simple, yet effective solution enables you to master your meta data to ensure consistency, improve usability, and tap into powerful new capabilities.

    Metadata enables new use cases:

    • Set up a social intranet. Combine, for example, the information from the user profile field "location" with the analog metadata of a page to get a location-based news feed within your wiki dashboard.
    • Create structured documentation, e.g. IT documentation.
    • Easily generate knowledge bases like a product directory. Create a wide variety of macros based on CQL, like a content report table.

It's absolutely useful and I love it. Thanks for your idea. I think you should consider a caption for metadata fields for people using it in another language and more filed types.

    Hi Ansar,

    Thanks for your great review!

We would like to save your suggestions as new feature requests. Could you elaborate a little which new field types you would like to see? Additionally, which language(s) do you have in mind?

Thanks for helping us improve our add-on!

    Kind regards,

    Almuth

This shouldn't be an add-on after all, it should be a core feature of Confluence. It makes defining and showing important data much more easier. You don't have to work with a mixed usage of macros and tables, just use a simple input form ... Still, I'm missing a couple of features (mainly better UX/UI and more field types (date, regex, email, number ...), but at least the functionality it already provides is valid 4 stars. With everything implemented I wanted I propably would have given it 5 stars.

I'm loving this add-on because it makes working with metadata easy. Using it for structuring pages by setting metadata fields as required and by dropdown menu users can select a value. Afterwards you can filter these values with the macro and build a structure into your pages. It is definitely more powerful than the standard labels.

Metadata for Confluence is a feature very much needed and the metadata sets and metadata fields are nice and works very good but I’m sorry to say I can't recommend this plugin! Reason for not recommending are: -There is no REST API for setting metadata field values. -Metadata is not version handled so going back to an earlier page the metadata is still with the latest values. -Metadata history exists but is based on date and not related with the Confluence page version. -The support close your issues when "I've received your issue" status and then nothing more happens. -Promised release dates are not kept, release information is vague and no emails are sent when new releases even if plugin is marked as watched in marketplace.

    Hello Anna,

Thank you for your honest feedback.

New feature requests are tracked separately from our customer support requests in a public Metadata Jira project. This way you can check if new feature ideas already exist, if they are in development etc. If a customer suggests a feature that has not yet been created within the project, the support team will add it.

New features for Metadata for Confluence are evaluated taking into consideration the input of a wide variety of customers. Therefore the evaluation process usually doesn't allow us immediate decisions about the future of specific features.

I hope this clears up some of the process and helps to reassure you that tracking these requests in the Metadata project is just the beginning of further development of our app.

I have confirmed that your suggested features have been raised as feature requests within our system. Thanks again for your input.

Regarding the missing emails when you watch the app in the Marketplace, it would be great if you could tell us in your open support ticket which release was affected. We are of course relying on the Atlassian Markteplace and would like to contact Atlassian to make sure it is working correctly.

Thanks again for your feedback. Have a great weekend!

    Kind regards,

    Almuth

Metadata for Confluence ist ein Must Have.

    Original review by Ronald Schwab:

Metadata for Confluence is a must have. When the number of Confluence pages is growing you have to consider how you want to structure information so you will be able to find what's relevant. Confluence standard functionality like "page properties" only helps so much. This add-on on the other hand provides you with considerable more functionality, like e.g. metadata sets. The latest updates helped make it even more powerful.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. The app tier should match the licensed user tier of the Atlassian product. For example, if you have a Confluence license for 500 users, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Atlassian product license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

This app does not have a a Data Center approved version. Only apps meeting a set of performance requirements for large, clustered environments are approved for Data Center.

However, while server apps are built for single-server deployments, many customers successfully install them in Data Center products. If you're using a Data Center product, Atlassian recommends you contact the vendor to determine compatibility at scale.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app does not have a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Server license if you decide to install this app in a Data Center product.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
