I have a UI bug I want to report. How can I contact you? I am prompted to enter login details in which I don't have. If you have multiple Environments, while starting a new test execution under a specific ticket, and you want to select an ENV, the UI for the dropdown is a bit off. It is expanding up. Thank you. UPDATE: I still cannot contact you through the links provided. Can you please give me another means of contact?

It seems that this platform is becoming the best for test engineers. I'm planning to integrate this addon to our system but there are few things that are necessary for us. To whom I should contact regarding new features or improvements?

As of 2019-12-11: Medium-sized Dev shop (~130 devs + testers) using TM4J for about 6 months now across about a dozen Jira projects. Using CLOUD version of TM4J, primarily with last-gen projects on Jira Cloud. Top line: We settled on TM4J after evaluating several other popular JIRA test casing add-ons, as well as a few other standalone options (e.g., Test Rail). Adoption has been relatively painless--we don't put a lot of pressure on teams to adopt new standards / tech immediately, but teams were eager to start using TM4J once they saw how easy it was to set up and use. Across the dozen teams using TM4J for regression testing management, about 75% have starting using it for functional testing as well (and I expect the others will eventually also). It has greatly increased efficiency by (1) making focused regressions easier to set up, and (2) getting more programmers involved in testing. Would recommend to any shop that still makes at least partial use of traditional, end-user-like functional testing. Pros: 1) Makes it MUCH easier to get ALL team members involved in testing. The standardization of the test case workflow, quick assignment of tasks, and relatively seamless integration with JIRA have made many of our developers not loathe being part of regression anymore. Obviously, this benefit disappears if you only intend for your testers to use TM4J. 2) Integration with Jira is STRONG, and extends the viability (and value) of TM4J far beyond regression test plan management. Once your team is used to the TM4J test player for regressions, it's very easy to transition to using it for functional testing, and furthermore incorporating those functional test cases into your growing test case library for regression et al. 3) Good customization options let you organize your test cases very well. Use folders, labels, link test cases to Jira components, etc. -- it's pretty easy to organize your library in a way that makes planning fast and execution focused and deliberate. 4) Simple thing, but the automated test timer actually gives you a pretty good idea of how long a test cycle / regression will take once you run through the individual test case(s) a time or two. Eliminates guesswork when you are doing a more focused regression. Cons: 1) Navigation is not super intuitive out of the box, and the use of test cycles does take a little getting used to if the concept is new to you. It's just clunky enough to turn off potential users (especially programmers) if there's not someone there to walk them through it. TM4J is still ahead of most of its competition in this category, but there's still room to grow. 2) Difficult to link test case failures to parent issue in Jira, which is important if you are using TM4J to do functional test casing or like to track all of your regression defects in a single Jira ticket. Right now, defects added from a TM4J test case get pushed into the backlog as a Bug, independent of the test item. Instead, a lot of our testers manually add defects to the parent Jira ticket when finding a defect via TM4J, which undermines traceability. 3) Reporting doesn't seem terribly useful YET. It's all at the project level, so forget any big picture / value justification reporting for management. The Traceability report shows all the failures and the test cycles that they came from, but doesn't aggregate the data for you in a way that shows what your best TCs / highest volatility areas are. Suggestions: 1) Add options for attaching a failure directly to the parent issue as a defect/sub-task, rather than only allowing as a bug to the backlog. 2) Autosave test cases during entry! If you get distracted during test case creation and come back later, the session often expires and you lose your entries. Very frustrating. 3) Add ability to assign test cases in the Test Player. Having to go back and forth between the planner to assign, then player to execute, is clunky. 4) Remember the user's collapse / expand preference for details view. Right now, it is always collapsed by default, so teams/users that use details in every test case have to manually expand each time. Jira has logic in the detailed issue view (hotkey O) to remember if you had a section expanded / collapsed previously. 5) Add option to delete test cases outright, rather than just archive (looks like this was present at one point, but since removed). 6) Add word wrap in the test player in the Test Case name column. It looks like there's plenty of room for it! 7) Add a way to use the excel importer to UPDATE existing TM4J test cases using the TM4J test case key. Right now, it can only add new test cases outright. Will update as our experience continues to grow. Updated 2020-01-23 to include additional suggestions.

We use the TM4J add-on application to plan, manage, and audit our test executions during our ERP Transformation process. Deciding to test inside Jira economized our team's time as users were already familiar with both the Jira look and feel from the project build phase. TM4J is cost-effective, a quick learn for users, and the traceability between requirements, test cases, and issues (defects) is crystal clear. It does an excellent job of making it easy to not only find issues (defects) but also tracking and recording test outcomes. I highly recommend using TM4J for Jira Cloud for your next test management needs.

I must say that you do leverage the testing experience in your organization with Test Management for JIRA. You can implement disciplined processes around tests considering how they are specified, planned and executed. But also, in cases that you don't require strict testing activities, Test Management for JIRA fits completely well providing to teams capabilities to specify and run tests in an "ad-hoc" manner, directly from their assigned issues. Finally, the Rest API integration extrapolates the possibilities that you have to exchange information generated trough other sources, for example, test results from automated tests.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
