    Hi Rahul,

    Thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry, Epic Sum Up did not work for you.

A new version of Epic Sum Up for Jira Cloud was released shortly that contains bugfixes and adaptions to recent changes in Jira Cloud.

Maybe the new version already fixes the issue in your case.

In case the new version does still not work as expected we are very interested in more detailed information about the error. Please feel free to contact our Support Team.

We develop Epic Sum Up according to our customers demands so all feedback is welcome.

    Kind regards, Denis

This add on solves for us the problem of rolling up time spent and story points from the lowest sub-task up to the Epic level. It allows us to use Epics to correspond to project milestones for reporting to senior management. Documentation is extremely brief, otherwise might get more stars. There are plenty of more advanced things this could do as per other reviews, but it solves a specific problem for us.

The access to the roll up fields in search or API would make this much more valuable. The current version helps, but does not solve the big problem.

I knew that Epic Sum Up provides rollup information with a drill-down view when working with a hierarchy (Epic, Story, Sub-task). Recently i needed to get a higher overview like on Feature or Initiative level. Surprisingly (to me) this also is possible with Epic Sum Up without the direct need for portfolio management add-ons. :) And even when using portfolio add-ons, Epic Sum Up still gives me a quick overview and drill-down to create easy reporting and overview for budgets and results. Great help and useful answers to all my support questions on how to implement this. Awesome! Thank you very much!

We originally got this App for the Epic Sum Up behavior which worked for what we needed. We were pleasantly surprised when we upgraded and found the Container link feature. It gives us functionality we were planning to script on our own. Looking forward to enhancements to this feature. Support was great as well. Reported a problem with my setup not working as detected. They responded quickly and were able to help me diagnose the problem and help me get it working with their 1st response. I highly recommend this app!

    thank you very much!

Of course we evolve the Container function as it gives you a way to use any issuetype as epic-like-containers. I would really appreciate to talk about your case using this function. We really like this plugin, specifically for the issue navigator attached to Epic's. We often use this for adjusting / reviewing time estimates. The view alone justifies the purchase. It's a pity that it's a bit obscure to get to (clicking on the time summary panel bars). Why I also like this plugin is because it's generally been pretty light-weight / easy to maintain and install. We had some issues recently and APTIS support were very responsive in getting it resolved. Generally it does exactly what it needs to do and does it well.

Used Epic Sum Up Pro for 6 plus months with JIRA Server. Overall, Epic Sum Up is a great add-on that really extends users' ability to aggregate status across Epics or use the Container feature to aggregate status across the multiple levels of issues within the Container. This is extremely useful for reporting on the status of a Product or across a multi-project program. The integration with the Filter Results widget is especially useful, as it allows Scrum Masters and Product Owners to create a summary view of all the Epics in a Product Increment that can be included on a Dashboard for reporting up to management/executives. This can potentially be used as a replacement for JIRA's Release Hub, which is limited to displaying progress within a fixVersion by issue count. Suggested improvements: - Performance. Tickets can be very slow to load with all of the features turned on. We limited the Summary Panel to Epics only, and used very tight filters in the Filter Results gadget to ensure that screens did not take more than 30 seconds to load. If there's a way to optimize this, it would be very beneficial. When displaying the Filter Results gadget on a JIRA Dashboard or in Confluence, performance starts to degrade once 10 or so Epics are all being displayed at once, and if more than one of the Epic Sum Up custom fields is included. - Export. It would be great to be able to export the Detail View, and the Filter Results to a spreadsheet format, for reporting purposes when it's not feasible for a potential consumer of the report to look at it online. - Integration with the JIRA Release Hub. Currently, the Release Hub only rolls up issue count into its tracking by Fix Version. It would be nice to be able to override this and use Story Points, or Time Spent as the unit of measure for a summary of progress toward a Fix Version. I guess this would more properly be "Fix Version Sum Up", Currently, the workaround would be to use a Container instead, but this adds overhead because it doesn't key off of the Fix Version field in JIRA. - Standalone Summary Panel/Detail View. One of the most frustrating parts of the user experience with the add-on, is having to click into a Container or Epic to see the Summary Panel and then click on a progress bar to get the Detail View. It would be nice to have a link or widget in the Project Statistics view that provides a list of all Epics in the project and displays a Detail View AND/OR an icon in the sidebar below the Components icon that jumps to a similar page at the Project level. - Better Documentation. While the documentation on the site is just enough to get up and running, there are gaps around common use cases for set up and usage, and the screenshots are cropped too tightly on many pages, so it's difficult to understand what screen one is on for a given feature. It's not immediately obvious, for example, that the Summary Panel is only available in the body of a ticket, and we struggled a little to get the fields configured correctly, so that issue counts did not also include the Epics themselves. The Container documentation is especially baffling and could use some fleshing out, based on examples of possible use cases.

Thank you Beth for your insightful feedback.

It's always a joy to see how users are working with the functions in the plugin.

We are building a Data Center version of Epic Sum Up. It will bring with it performance upgrades to both the Data Center and Server versions. We have already seen major performance boosts in our testing environments.

We are also looking at integrating better with other tools like integration Jira Portfolio, the Release Hub and other marketplace add-ons. Do you have any integrations in mind? If so reply or email us support@aptis.info.

The progress bars are also renderable as a custom field, which may be displayed in the issue navigator or as part of a card on agile boards. This gives access to the details from an overview of issues or entry points (e.g. project board). The deeper integration of the detail view as a better tool to manipulate field values inline in a set of issues is a strong integration point that we are looking at. The first step to do this is the "show in detail view" function in the issue navigator. But there will be more to follow.

Point taken about the need for us to improve our documentation. We look to clients to suggest areas that we should add or improve, your feedback would be appreciated.

If you willing to share some of your configurations or use cases get in contact with us support@aptis.info

Adding an epic progress bar to the card layout is my primary use case. This is not supported on JIRA Cloud. The one star is for not calling this out anywhere other than the product documentation (which the "First Steps" page doesn't load... I had to find a random page via Google).

Would be a very nice add-on at the previous price point. Now that you have jacked the price up more than 5x the original cost we were quoted. we will be looking else-ware for this functionality. Very disappointed in the price gouging.

    Hi Nicolas,

I am sorry, that our price adaption seems to be that big for you. As a Vendor of Software solutions, we have to define pricings that match to the use and the cost of development. So we had to decide to add more features and adopt the pricings of other similar plugins, or keep it small and cheap as it was. The load of ideas, feature requests and talks to our customers led us to grow the plugin.

We are very short to our next big release, where you will get these features:

    • Summary Panel for EVERY Issuetype (to sum up eg story points from subtatsks)
    • add and edit additional fields in the detail View, like fixVersion, Account or other custom fields
    • budget marker for other values, too (not just for time)

These and a lot more smaller features are just the next step to our roadmap.

Please get in contact to us to talk about your particular needs, and how we can help to get into the use of Epic Sum Up.

    by namaha vishnave on 2016-05-12
This is a very nice add-on. I have tried it and noticed that this will work if all the items (EPIC, Story, Sub tasks) are in one project. What if, the EPIC is in one project and the stories and subtasks are in separate project (parallel projects)? In the release notes, you mentioned that you are planning to support this in future. Any idea when this will be available / delivered?

    Hi Namaha,

actually Epics allow the inclution of Issues from any other Jira-project, so ESU does support the aggregation, too. Our plans are to create a new issue type that works similar to an Epic, but has some more features you might need for project management or information engineering. (think of Epics as projects)

    cheers

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
