    Very bad the application. Very unstable and contains many bugs. The most serious thing is that it duplicated tasks, which involved time not considered in the management of tasks. Not recommendable.

We immediately noticed the outages and fixed them. I'm attributing your review to those outages as I couldn't find a support ticket with your name in our Service Desk. We are usually able to fix reported issues within 24 hours. We would love to see you re-evaluating BigGantt.

    On a related note, we at SoftwarePlant work on Cloud versions internally, so we can detect Cloud-related issues early. The support & development teams get notified on reviews, including yours, so they can react.

    *I can't more strongly recommend you steer very clear of this.* I followed advice of their support team - adding all our tickets into one biggant project so that it would stop randomly changing the start and end dates and links between some tickets that are in and some out of it. Having added them all, it has just deleted a large portion of our data from our Jira instance with 8924 tickets in many projects with many links, comments attachments, etc. I'm astonished.

    Hi, Roger, thanks for the review. I just discussed your case with our support team. Everybody feels sorry about your bad experience, and the issue is on our roadmap. We're going to change how BigGantt behaves when it's 'not sure' which dates to use.

    The issue may only arise at those clients, who have tasks both within BigGantt and outside of it, and there has to be a dependency between the two tasks. In such a case, the helpdesk occasionally advices a client to import all tasks into a single BigGantt program, so that all of the tasks are effectively within BigGantt.     Hi Joseph, thanks for the review, we're all sorry to hear about your experience. I haven't found a support ticket under your name, hence a general answer: as of mid-2019 we register few BigGantt Cloud-related tickets that are not resolvable within 24-48 hours. While in the past the Server version of BigGantt was indeed superior to the Cloud edition, especially in terms of performance, it's not the case beginning 19th June 2019, when we migrated to faster servers. Still, the nature of Cloud implies some downtime-related errors; check here when these outages actually happen https://status.softwareplant.com/. I would be genuinely happy to see you re-evaluate BigGantt, and the support team will do their best to resolve the issues. Regards, Marcin

    I would like to schedule issues independently, but no matter which settings I choose, they all seem linked. I cannot change the duration of an epic or child task by drag-drop. I can only change the sub-task, which will automatically update its parent task and the epic. Furthermore, the documentation shows a "recalculate parents..." option which is not available for me.

As for the first paragraph, I suppose you were in an 'automatic' task mode, and switching to the 'Manual' mode would help https://wiki.softwareplant.com/display/ DOCUMENTATION/Gantt+-+Task+modes+-+Manual. I can see your 'no matter which settings I choose' statement, but this is all I can say not knowing the details (and we try to solve users' issues over helpdesk).

    Hi Felipe, yes BigGantt is a self-contained app, so you don't need BigPicture to use BigGantt. This is a 5 minute tutorial on how to create a new program https://youtu.be/rP52rPKCIAc?t=34 in BigGantt and BigPicture, as the program manager is virtually the same in both. I fully understand you might not be able to create a program for some legit reason, I think the quickest way to solve that would be to e-mail support@softwareplant.com with a screenshot and a short description.     easy to use I have a question When creating an embedded issue of Big Gant, the start date and end date are automatically updated with the created date. Even if forced deletion is performed, it is updated with the regeneration date. Can I keep a null value when the start date end date is not manually recorded? I would like to be exposed to Gantt but not showing the schedule bar.

    Hi Kyung-Min Jo,

    I understand you wish to keep a task visible in the left, work breakdown structure part of the Gantt chart view, and at the same time you are trying to hide the bar representing this task from the right area of the screen, namely from the Gantt chart itself.

    I would keep the original, equal start and end dates of the task to keep the bar 'thin', so to speak. I'd change the color of the bar to 'none' and then I would lock the task (three dotes > Task mode > Lock) to prevent other users from accidentally changing its dates. This way you reduce the visibility of the task on the bar chart.

    Another thing you can do is creating a sub-task to some other task and then drill-up that level of the hierarchy, effectively hiding the sub-task.

    You could also upgrade from BigGantt to BigPicture, with its Scope module, among others, which essentially is a more functional left, work breakdown structure, part of the Gantt chart, with no bar chart itself. BigPicture obviously does have the 'regular' Gantt charts, too.

    It is quite unstable and even doing basic stuff is often a problem. If you report a bug answer can be something like this: "It happens sometimes just do it manually" - well yeah do it manually - hundreds of issues... Also asking to provide full administration rights to their email is not something what you will be wiling to do...

    Thank you for the review. We do realize that some issues with the Cloud version of the plugin might have caused a user to encounter few problems, especially in its first months after the official release. And yes, in some cases a manual troubleshooting was required, though we are trying to implement hot-fixes to all of our plugins as often as possible.

    We do not request administrative rights to anyone's e-mail. In most cases we offer a WebEx troubleshooting session with screen sharing, where user reproduces the issue and one or two of SoftwarePlant team members guides them through the plugin set-up in order to resolve that specific issue. In some cases, when the above is not possible, customers offer a creation of a JIRA account with administrative rights to their environment in order to test, reproduce and fix some issues, though this usually takes legal forms like NDA.

    Please let us know if the issue you've struggled with still persists or maybe if it was fixed with the later releases of the BigGantt.

    Very slow to create a chart (from a tiny test project). Came up with meaningless errors. Took no notice of assignments, scheduled all tasks simultaneously. Could drag them manually but not link them. If you did this, the change this was forgotten if you created a new chart. Changing the estimated time of a task had no effect on the chart; you have to make a new chart, which will have forgotten everything you did.

    I have three questions. 1. Can I edit the start date and the end date by texting not drag-and-drop. 2. Baseline schedule bar is overlapped with present schedule bar. Can I replace the baseline and present schedule bars in two lines? 3. I know you'll support multiple baseline in around Q3 this year, Could you let me know the exact date?

    1) This can be done indeed through Jira Issue Detail View. Please keep in ming though, this operation is still performed within Jira not in plugin itself. Even if it may seem like it.

    2) This issue has been fixed in one of the latest releases and should no longer be a problem.

    3) Sadly, the multiple baseline functionality has to be moved to the end of Q4 this year, as there's many other features which became our priority as well as the fact that we are planning to implement multiple baselines with plugin's new look and feel.

    This is exactly what you've been dreaming of if you just wish you could work with your epics and stories/tasks laid in a Gantt view. Setup is a little tricky, but the great support makes up for that. If you have a hassle, just ask.

    Large charts are crashing the browsers, previous updates froze company's work. The latest update when the dates moved in 20 years gave us a pain as we had to rebuild all of the plans we had. The next one, when you introduced new features (auto, manual, lock) broke all the locked tasks we already had with the previous functionality and we had to rebuild them again. Now, we cannot do almost anything with this add-on as we are experiencing a major issue: - large charts are crashing the browsers (have around 400 tasks) - middle charts take 5-10 seconds to process each movement (have up to 100) Have you ever tested you add-on on performance? Because unfortunately you have none. Do you ever test your builds on DB changes? Because we were losing the information with new features and your architectural restructures. Playing with it on small projects and a little amount of tasks was fun, but when it comes to a serious work on large project that take from 6 months to develop, this add-on is no use. We were forced to use it as there is no alternative on the market but now we are thinking about going back to external tools as even this manual work takes less time than dealing with the add-on issues constantly. PS. In case you think this is a hardware problem, this is not. We have NO issues with hardware as we have powerful dedicated servers and our PMs are working on Mac Book Pro pros (custom powerful configurations). PPS. I was trying to leave a feedback on the company's support site but simply couldn't. After filling out a form and trying to submit it I was thrown an error "Reporter field is required" when this field was hidden from the screen.

    How does cloud app pricing work?

    Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

    When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

    If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

    How do I determine my cloud pricing?

    Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance.     Installation

    1. Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate BigGantt - Gantt Chart for Jira via search. The appropriate app version appears in the search results.
    5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for BigGantt - Gantt Chart for Jira. You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. BigGantt - Gantt Chart for Jira begins to download.
    6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    7. Click Apply license. If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Jira instance.
