Round-robin and component based assignment to support teams you define
Projects are aligned to specified role (and optionally components) within each project. These teams are used later in the provided workflow function.
Apply the workflow to initial Create transition, or any custom escalation transitions to assign to the specified team, round-robin manner.
Each team you create can be aligned to Components. If that component is applied at creation (via service desk, etc) then the ticket will route to the matching team.

Most of the errors below were configuration issues (missing team names in workflow, etc). I don't know I've seen any tickets related to the error you linked, and know it was tested on JIRA 7 for the latest release. But I would welcome any PR you want to submit!

Installation
- Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
- Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
- Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
- Locate Assign & Escalate for Jira via search. Results include app versions compatible with your Jira instance.
- Click Install to download and install your app.
- You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
