You are right, a typical HTML documentation is missing, in return effort has been made since the beginning to make all options comprehensible and to handle exceptions in a user-friendly manner. This is probably what allowed hundreds of users so far to enjoy this free plugin.
In your situation, have you got a (?) rendered instead of the expected status light? Is the tooltip on mouse-over not helpful to point the issue? Feel free to create an issue in github if you need help.

Installation
- Log into your Confluence instance as an admin.
- Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
- Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
- Locate Dashboard+ via search. Results include app versions compatible with your Confluence instance.
- Click Install to download and install your app.
- You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
