  Confluence's built-in editor only bends so far, so dropping your own HTML and CSS into a page is often the only way to get the layout you actually want. Good to hear that's what made your pages more flexible.

  It's also nice it stayed easy to use for you, since custom markup can get fiddly fast.

Opened a ticket for a feature that was lost during an update: auto-resizing the HTML content on a page. The support/dev team was fabulous and fixed the problem in a few days.
