    Due to the discontinued on-prem server version, I have been looking into Jira Service Management Cloud. We would like to introduce a CMDB (asset management) at the same time as the Jira Cloud. But from my point of view there are massive problems regarding backup + restore with the Insight App. If I make a backup of Jira Cloud and restore it later, then it is necessary to reinstall the apps used. It seems that the Insight app cannot be reinstalled after a restore. It always shows an error message "We ran into a little trouble. It might just be a hiccup". In the audit log the following entries are generated: "Failed to install app plugin.xxxxx.atlassian-connect.json". It doesn't matter if I uninstalled the Insight app before or not. It also doesn't matter if I create a fresh site or use our Jira-server (on-prem) data for testing. If someone wants to use this app productively, then I would currently call that brave. If you use Atlassian's free subscriptions, you don't have the option to open tickets. Not even if you want to use a paid app from Atlassian like "Insight".

    Hakan, https://trello.com/b/u6TTX67s/insight-for-jira-cloud-product-road-map link is not working "This board may be private. If someone gave you this link, they may need to invite you to one of their boards or teams." Can you make it public. We are in need of a clear roadmap.

    Otherwise great CMDB in server area, unfortunately in the cloud it's unusable. It cannot be properly integrated with Jira or external systems. Unusable sync.

    Thank you for your feedback. We did our best to provide CMDB functionality for Jira on Server hosting option. Good to hear that you checked the feature set for Server too. Our Cloud journey is now speeding up. We hope that you stay with us and hear new features getting available one after another. For example, we recently introduced the Automatic Sync of the Asset Type Configuration. The delays in the sync which were experienced previously are solved now.     Without the sample schemas its not very useful - yet . Ill reinstall when the ITSM sample schema is available in the cloud

    There are many great things about Insight Asset Management, especially the very intuitive GUI and also the flexible permission options. However, we have had a severe performance impact due to it, and that is something I would like to warn about. Saving issues takes 6-8 seconds longer than without Insight custom fields. We are in touch with Mindville and have seen small improvements, but we have had to live with this for months now and it is negatively affecting hundreds of JSM agents on a daily basis. We have optimised all kinds of performance related settings in our instance, but the cause is simply this add-on. I do appreciate that Mindville/Atlassian support is trying to fix this, but progress is slow and so far no solution to the main problem. So I think it's only fair to warn that you should thoroughly test for performance impact before deciding to buy this. Things being like this I'm afraid I can give no more than 2 stars.

    No so easy at the beginning but the support is efficiency !> This tool is so powerful, we can implement all we want, it's very dynamic and actually all my imagination in the interaction between Jira is so perfect ! Nice tool ! Great support !

    Once you finally get the hang of certain things it's good. However in the interest of customer satisfaction I implore them to not need so much knowledge of iql in order to do simple things, especially when you realise how much harder it is to get your head around and how much it differs from jql. When configuring custom fields make it clickable like a basic jql search. One massive pain I found was that the benefit of using child object types was completely negated by not being able to unpair a child object type or change it later on if you change your mind. This meant we had to set everything up from scratch. I'm not sure how it would be possible but the documentation needs an overhaul to make it clearer how iql works. I used insight for 6 months in a previous role and constantly had to remind myself using a previous piece of work or having to raise yet another support request because it just didn't seem to feel intuitive. However I will say I think the support is very good most of the time. I managed to have several screenshare sessions with the developers to explain how it works and demo it. Sadly this wouldn't be needed if the documentation made more sense.

    We used this product for many cases: CMDB for change management, CRM for customer support, inventory for maintenance team etc. With builtin, useful advanced workflow elements only your imagination creates border for the implementation project. Great app, Swiss knife of assets whatever you are thinking about assets :)

    As someone who has been working with this for a few months now, I can safely say this is a total waste of time, money, and energy. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone as of right now. Maybe in a year or so after Atlassian has a chance to work out the bugs, and there are a lot of them! Then maybe but overall stay away if you can.

    Horrid UI/UX experience, linking objects is practically impossible, can't reference CIs in Jira query, only if a CI is linked to an issue... You have y to use crappy IQL and linked asset advanced field. For half the price you can build your own Jira based CMDB with Links Heirachy and Teamworx Issue Linker. I would not reccomend this product and shame on Atlassian tarnishing JSM because they were too lazy to build their own Jira based CMDB and have it part of JSM out of the box... For the price you'd expect it.! UPDATE 06/04/21 : Insight is now free with JIRA Premium \ Enterprise Cloud. Despite Atlassian raising prices I highly doubt we can expected the integrated version of this abysmal product to get the needed overhaul to make it a useable and meaningful CMDB.

    As an Atlassian Partner we are always on the lookout for good plugins to enhance the Atlassian experience. Not only for our own instances, but also for the customers who we serve. We use Insight to get grip on assets in our company, by using Insight we can report on on issues related to assets.

    Great plugin. We are using Insight Data Center for our company and it's doing a great job already. 1) UI is very intuitive and info displayed for any asset is very useful ( Like the Referenced Assets, Referenced assets for any software). 2) Plugins to integrate with other 3rd party resource like AWS etc., is awesome. 3) Graph view is very nice one as it gives a very high level idea what's going on the CMDB side for anyone who wants to take a quick look. 4) Reports - Very nice 5) Performance - Good but can be improved - We found some other alternative ways to improve it suggested in the documentations So, we're very much satisfied with this plugin. Good job team.

    Installation

    1. Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new apps or Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Insight - Asset Management via search. Results include app versions compatible with your Jira instance.
    5. Click Install to download and install your app.
    6. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
