We wanted to use Programs to manage our JIRA high level tickets. Programs does not support tickets from next-gen JIRA, so this isn't working for us. If you're doing top-down planning and time tracking, Tempo is what you're looking for though.

    Hi Sean,

My name is Hildur and I am a Customer Experience specialist here at Tempo. I want to thank you for taking the time to write a review.

It is true that Programs are not yet compatible with next-gen Jira projects, in fact Tempo as a whole is not yet compatible. But we are working on that.

We hope to have some news on that front at a later date.

Thank you and have a great day,

    Hildur at Tempo.

Not the best app for JIRA. It went very expensive after separation of timesheets and planner. User experience is not the best, a lot of funtionality that still is not available. Bad Pairing with JIRA Software itself. If we find the time we will change to another tool. Good for consultant management.

    Hi Tim,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

Tempo Timesheets and Tempo Planner have always been separate products on Cloud. The option to plan time for others was removed from Timesheets on Cloud the summer of 2017 and late last year from Timesheets on Server so to focus on what each product offered and did best.

It is quite unfortunate to hear that your impression and experience of Tempo Planner is so negative and I would love to hear in better detail what those are. If you are willing please contact our Support team where we could get more detailed feedback from you. The best way to improve our products and meet the demands of our customers is by receiving frank and honest feedback from them.

If you decide to contact us, please mention my name, Hildur Nanna, in the Ticket so I will receive it.

Amazing app, which has transformed the way we work on smaller projects. After using other scheduling and planning apps such as Big Picture (which did not work half the time) we opted to install and use Tempo Planner due to also using Tempo Timesheets. The interface is easy to use and works efficiently combined with dashboard gadgets.

The planning view requires a large screen (horizontal scrolling). I would have wanted the product to make a the work schedule prediction for a multi-project team easier, but instead due to manual copying of work (task estimate -> person's estimate -> work log) it added to the work. Best suited for tracking the costs of freelancers, consultants in relation to a project.

    Hello Niko,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We at Tempo very much appreciate all feedback as it helps us greatly to improve our products.

The Tempo Planner is a resource planning tool but it is not designed to track the cost of those resources. Therefore I would very much like a better insight into your work to understand what you would like to achieve from the use of the Planner.

If you are amenable please consider to contact our Customer support team, mention my name, Hildur Nanna and describe your use case. That way as I do not have access to your contact information we could work together to better understand how best Planner could assist you to achieve your aims.

Handy for adding hours to see an overall snapshot, but the usability of the tool is really bad. It is super clunky to add and edit hours, it doesn't have much flexibility with moving or adjusting, and the clickable UI is finicky and buggy. It's a shame as this would work perfectly with our Tempo system, but unfortunately takes too long to edit/enter data

    Hi Nick,

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback.

We have been hard at work improving our Planner this year, have you had the chance to review the improvements released in the past weeks? More is to come as the improvements so far have been focused on the Days view in the Resource Planning view but next releases will focus on the Weeks view and will add functions such as drag and drop and more.

Please take a look here for more information.

Hi! We've just bought Tempo Timesheets and now we evalute Tempo Planner. It is just a bit confusing, because the Resource Planning page shows all issues in any status. It is not comfortable, but we didn't found any fields to limit shown issues by the status. Is it possible?
    Tempo for JIRA

    Hi Alexandr,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review.

Tempo Planner on Server does offer the possibility when in Resource planning to use the issues side panel to limit what issues are offered. By creating Jira filters you can control which issues are shown depending on your needs. This page from the Tempo Help Center explains the process further.

Furthermore, contacting our very dedicated Support team can assist you getting the best results for your organization with the use of Tempo Planner.

If you are willing we would appreciate it if you would use that same link to the Support team to contact us to give us further information on your use case. We always welcome insights from our customers on how they use our products, and how and why you are evaluating Tempo Planner could be very useful in the development of it.

If you decide to give us more feedback please mention my name in the ticket, Kristín Hreinsdóttir, to make sure that I receive it straight away. If you do not please remember that our Help Center and Support team have a wealth of information which should be very useful for you and your team when using Tempo Planner and Tempo Timesheets.

We use Tempo planner to make our life easier and to get a good overview of our resources. Employees plan their vacations and what issues to work on in an easy manner from their calendars. Manager can have a clear overview of team resources at each time, approve vacations and plan work in advanced when needed. We think Tempo planner is a great addition to existing functionality of Tempo.

Sorry, but I have to say that this product is getting worse and worse... no way to show plans and worklogs on the same grid (removed)--> why? no way to compare plans and facts (anymore) no way to adapt plans to facts (actual remaining time of issues) but only on-by-one manually (if you spot it because there is no report for differences!) no way to approve plans but only one by one (instead of using the same approval page we have for timesheets) It is a VERY basic tool now (and getting worse!), with very limited usability except in very small companies.

    Tempo for JIRA

    Hi Janos,

I am very sorry to hear that your experience with Tempo Planner has worsened.

I do know that a representative from Tempo has reached out to you for more information regarding your impressions. Hopefully that will have yielded some positive results for you.

I would like to mention that in the subsequent releases we have addressed some of the points you mentioned e.g.

    • JQL is supported in our dedicated Reports section. There you can filter by what ever saved JQL filter you have access to similar to what was possible in the user reports in previous Tempo timesheet versions. What has also been implemented in the My Work timesheet in version 9.4 is a feature allowing you to see the issue lists configured in the My Work Issues side panel in your Timesheet view. This will allow you to use your User Timesheet to track time on issues that are relevant to you. The issue lists will enable you to view issues in your Timesheet even though you have not logged time on them.
    • Also, we are currently assessing the opportunity to build more support for approval workflows with the objective to solve more complicated approval use cases, for example approvals on the project or account level.

We announced the changes that were released in Tempo Timesheets 9 here and have released some great additional features and improvements in the months since. Please take a look here for all announcements for our Server products.

Thank you for taking the time to review Tempo Timesheets.

We are very happy with what Tempo offers. Their products are very useful for planning our resources and ensuring we are at full capacity for each project. We have submitted numerous tickets for some onboarding challenges, and the Tempo team was quick to respond with relevant information to get our setup done right. We really like the reporting (although not optimal). Overall I would recommend planner to anyone who ask.

    Tempo for JIRA

    Hi Dominik,

Thank you for leaving feedback regarding our product Tempo Planner.

I am not a German speaker, so just to be clear, your review translates to something similar to:

"We use the plug-in already productively, despite still existing weaknesses and bugs. I think a free test phase would have been better and to take money for it sometimes seems cheeky, but you have to consider the developer to be good, that they constantly work on the module and make improvements."

After much discussion, Tempo decided to move most planning features from Tempo Timesheets to Tempo Planner. This change allows our Tempo Timesheets team to concentrate their effort on improving solutions to time tracking. Only individual planning will be possible in the new version of Tempo Timesheets Cloud for JIRA. Users can plan for themselves in the Calendar view (you can read more here). Planning for team members and the planning approval process are now within other planning resources in Tempo Planner. Planning approval is not currently available, but is being implemented.Improvements to planning time in Tempo will, of course, continue. Our Tempo Planner team has added key resource management features that customers used to planning in Tempo Timesheets can use:

    • Capacity reporting
    • Workload overview
    • Demand management

I hope this goes some way to explaining the recent update.

    Kind regards,

    David Wilkie

Hi, we are a small company below 10 users. Recently we were upgrading from JIRA 6.x to the latest (together with Tempo) But I was shocked to see that the server version is $100 instead of the standard $10 (for this amount of users). We'd like to continue using Tempo, but can't afford to pay 10 times more than we payed initially. Out of curiosity, why the difference between cloud and server?

    Hi Lucian,

To answer your question, the server is tier-based perpetual license with 50% annual renewal while the cloud is user-based license offered as monthly or annual subscription. You may also get in touch with us here if you have further questions.

3/17/17: I've spent several days working with Tempo Planner, looking to develop it as a replacement for the MS Project and Excel tools I currently use to manage a team of 35 across 30+ projects. Here is what I have found so far: 1. It's not intuitive, and the help materials are limited. Walking through the videos helps, but it's just a start, and there are some areas that I can't find any good documentation on (like the concepts behind time periods and percent efforts for resources, and how they relate to capacity planning). But then MS Project is anything but intuitive, so I'd like to think my expectations here are realistic. 2. Planner seems to be able to do about 50% of what I need, but what I really need is the ability to do the following: a. Look at resources over time from a project/sponsor perspective, ie who is on a project at what effort for the next 12 months. b. Look at resources over time from a resource manager perspective, ie organized by staff member. Ideally I’d be able to associate a manager with each resource and filter by that to get the resource manager view. c. Look at projects over time from a staff perspective, ie what am I as a team member assigned to at what levels for the next 12 months? d. I also need to be able to characterize the team utilization, ie compare capacity to utilization to say what percentage of the team is assigned to a project. I currently do this in Excel. UPDATE 4/4/17: Tempo has gotten in touch with me and I've had a good conversation regarding the current offering and the future roadmap. I've learned about an alternative approach that may help me in the short run to accomplish the second need above, and in the long run, Tempo is working towards a solution that meets most the needs I describe above (not sure about c, but it's the lowest priority for me). They also mentioned that they are working to bring the cloud and server versions onto the same code base, which will have many obvious benefits for customers and Tempo.

Surely very good for big big development organization. But for a small startup like mine, it is really really really too complicated... I tried to understand via the webinar. But It became more more sophisticated and I was completely lost after 20min... Maybe you should organize a special Webinar for small companies like mine...

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
